Sourcing your Lambretta or Vespa overseas - Surprises or Disappointments

We have all seen the adds in various scooter magazines & websites offering fully restored Vespas and Lambrettas at very economical prices. The majority of these scooters are being produced and shipped from India, Vietnam, Thailand and China, parts are cheap, BUT the quality of the parts used can be very poor indeed.

Borgo's garage has had the unenviable pleasure of having to restore some of these scooters, their owners being naturally very disappointed at what they had received from overseas. In some cases the scooters were death traps waiting to happen, frames broken, brakes not functioning the list is endless, see our pictorial catalogue below.

If you are contemplating sourcing a Lambretta or Vespa from overseas please think long and hard before committing yourself. The majority of the time you will end up spending more money trying to put the scooter right.
